Decks

New decks and rebuilds, in wood or composite boards like Trex.

A deck is only as good as what holds it up: footings, posts, beams and joists. The boards are the part you see, so we talk through wood and composite and what each needs over the years.

Railings, stairs and the trim around the edge are part of the job, not an extra.

Cutaway drawing of a deck corner: composite boards with even gaps, joists in hangers on a doubled beam picked out in sandstone red, a post and a concrete pier in the ground.
What holds a deck upThe boards are what you see. The beam, shown in sandstone red, and the joists and footings under it are what decide whether the deck stays flat and solid.

Fences and gates

Privacy fences, gates and repairs, in cedar and wood.

A fence stands or leans on its posts. They go deep in the ground, set firm, before a rail or picket goes on.

Gates get their own posts and hardware, so they still close properly after a few winters.

Cutaway drawing of a cedar privacy fence with the ground cut away to show each post set deep in a bell of concrete, shown in sandstone red, over gravel.
Posts set deepA fence is only as straight as its posts. Each one is set in concrete, shown in sandstone red, deep enough that frost can't push it over.

Siding repair

Damaged boards cut out and new ones patched in, from a few boards to a whole wall.

Hail and weather crack siding one board at a time. The damaged boards come out, new ones go in with the joints staggered, and the wall is ready for paint.

If more of the wall is gone than is worth patching, we'll tell you straight.

Drawing of a wall of lap siding with a patch of new boards, shown in sandstone-red primer, spliced in with staggered joints; the cut edge shows studs, sheathing and house wrap.
Patched, not replacedDamaged siding boards can be cut out and new ones spliced in with the joints staggered, so the patch disappears once it's painted.

Concrete, stone and brick

Steps, walks and patios: concrete, stamped and textured concrete, stone and brick.

Steps and walks need a firm gravel base under them, so they don't heave or crack in the first hard winter.

Plain, stamped or textured concrete, natural stone and brick: we'll show you the options for your budget.
